Ordinary Things, Consistently Done, Produce Extraordinary Results!
Every day, small actions can create monumental change. In 1988, I was asked to lend my artistic talents to create a painting for what became known as The Honor Card—a card that sells for just $5. That simple gesture raised over $50K in its very first year. Over the next 35 years, as the initiative expanded to 15 cities, it raised more than $10 million, with every cent going directly to programs supporting the homeless. This journey demonstrates that what may seem like an ordinary act, when carried out with consistency and genuine care, can evolve into a movement with a profound impact.
Three Examples of Consistent Effort Leading to Extraordinary Outcomes
-
A Lifelong Commitment to Art and Compassion:
What began as a single $5 Honor Card evolved into a long-standing tradition of annual paintings. This continuous commitment not only showcased the power of art but also provided essential funding for homeless programs—proving that consistency in doing what you love can build a lasting legacy. -
The Power of Daily Habits:
Small, disciplined actions, like creating one painting every year or contributing a few dollars consistently, can lead to extraordinary achievements. Just as daily habits in any field—whether writing, exercising, or volunteering—compound into significant milestones, the repeated efforts behind the Honor Card illustrate that everyday contributions can lead to transformative results. -
Community Service as a Cumulative Force:
Consider the local volunteer or the community supporter whose regular, modest contributions build a foundation of care and progress. The Honor Card’s evolution from a modest $5 offering into a multi-million-dollar movement exemplifies how sustained community support and small consistent actions can create an enduring force for positive change.
